The First Day of Kindergarten

Well, today was T's first day of Kindergarten, and while he hardly got any sleep, it seems to have gone well. Here are some of his highlights:

1) He had PE class today, where they played "Cartoon Network Tag." Sounds fun! Sign me up! T wore his tennis shoes today. Apparently some kids did not. T was on the blue "squad" he said.

2) When we entered the classroom this morning, one of the little darlings, Cesar, was not only crying but throwing an absolute screaming fit. T was mortified, but once I explained to him that Cesar probably hadn't gone to pre-school like T had, and that he wasn't as ready for Kindergarten as T was, it was cool. I felt really sorry for Mrs. Yingst, who had to stay and try to calm him down. It was not pretty.

3) T made a handprint puzzle with a poem that Mrs. Yingst put together about his first day of school. It went along with the story they read first thing this morning, "The Kissing Hand" about a little raccoon's first day of school. It's the most precious thing I've ever seen! So far.

4) I forgot to tell T that he would NOT be riding a school bus today and he was FURIOUS with me. He thought he'd get to ride one to Adventure Club after school. Oops! I told him that he can when he gets older (I hope!)

5) I cannot say enough good things about his school. I am so happy with the orientation last week, with how prepared his teacher is, with the entire facility, with everything really!

6) I was able to record a quick "interview" with T about his first day. Finally! It took 3 takes, but we did it!

7) There are 2 kids with the same first name and last initial as T - in his class! Why would they not separate the two of them!?! Oh, well. We'll write first and last name on everything from now on.

8) Luckily a boy from T's preschool is in another Kindergarten class, so he got to play with his friend, Tony, at recess today. I wish I still had a recess. :(

9) I can't WAIT to buy a school t-shirt!!! Yay!

10) T went to sleep earlier tonight, so hopefully tomorrow will be twice as good!

Thank you all for your well wishes! We got through the day and neither of us cried! Wish I could say as much for all of T's new friends!
